Why did you start QuickSprout?
It was my personal blog and just a place I wanted to share marketing tips with people.
What advice would you give to others that are wanting to leave their jobs and start their own business?
You just have to find your unique angle on your offering and keep hustling.

Learn how to execute fast otherwise someone else with overtake you.
How to you recommend as a strategy to advance their execution skills?
Break big tasks down into a bunch of small tasks and accomplish them everyday.
What advice do you have for people who are afraid to start because they are afraid they will fail?
What do you have to fear. If you fail you will be right back where you are now, so why not take a chance for a different outcome.

- Tried to do too many things
- I didn’t learn from my mistakes early enough so I repeated them.
- I took mobile for granted and missed opportunity

No specific platform, just get out there and take action.
What is your best SEO advice?
Start a blog and try to optimize your own site through SEO. That’s how you will get good at SEO. Focus on the low hanging fruit.
What do you attribute your success early that attracted big news organizations?
My content, networking and hustle.

Focus, learning from mistakes and don’t take markets for granted.
What resources did you use to become successful?
Read to learn it and then practice on your own website. Use your own business as an experiment.

- Don’t do anything unethical
- Don’t do anything that can jeopardize your brand.
- Do give your users what they want.
- Do provide value to your followers.
There is no real secret to success. There is only working and learning and adapting to be successful.
What do you say to someone that isn’t being successful?
When things are going really good or really bad, you can always find someone that is better or worse off than you, so keep it in perspective.
How do you feel about formal business education?
Find what works for you and if it is formal education, then that is fine. But every single person learns differently so go with what works for you regardless of other’s expectations.
