One of things you will most certainly need to have to make money online is a skill of some kind. Actually to make money offline requires a skill also!
But for the most of you reading this blog, you are looking to work from home. To do this you will need to master a skill that you can use and make money with by using your computer.
As I’ve mentioned before, but I’m going to say it again; if you want to make a ton of ‘safe’ money, you should do so by mastering a skill, not by depending on another platform.
What do I mean? I’m all about building on a skill and mastering it so nobody or outside thing can take it away from you. Or move the goal posts.
Using Amazon, eBay, YouTube, Craigslist etc are definitely ways to make you a ton of money and provide you with a steady stream of income.
Maybe 1-3 VA’s
Platform is established.
In Amazons case; over 300 million credit cards to tap in to.
And the list goes on.
But what happens when let’s say Amazon moves their goal posts? Decide to change their rules? And they have done on many occasion. And it affected me and many others I know BIG TIME.
The nice steady income you’ve just built up is now slashed to pieces? Probably by half and guess what?? There’s not one single thing you can do about it.
All those hours, all that time and energy, all that money…for what?
Don’t get me wrong, other platforms are great to make you money BUT you should not be solely depending on them. If you do, then you’re an idiot. Quite simple.
You should develop a skill that will make you money, a lot of money online that NOBODY and NOTHING can take it away from you.
Are you with me so far? Good :-)!
You should master a skill like SEO for example. Or copywriting. Or digital marketing. Something along those lines. Why?
Because if you’re any good, there are no shortage of clients. Plus nobody can ever take that skill away from you. You control your hours. The prices you want to charge. The consultation fees etc. You are in FULL control. Nice feeling eh?!
Yes, it will be slower at the start but in the long run, it is more safe. Knowing that every morning you wake up, you do not have to worry about an outside platform such as Amazon to change their rules, take a bigger cut, promote your product, take it from the shelf etc.
I’ve started (just very recently) to learn SEO. My goodness, it feels like I’ve a mountain to climb, but at least I know when I do climb that mountain, it will not be in vain PLUS it will stick with me forever. Plus it will help me to rank higher in Google.
Higher ranking = More traffic.
More Traffic will hopefully turn in to conversions.
More conversions will then hopefully turn in to sales.
More sales = more revenue.
More revenue = happy Rob!
And so on. Get my drift?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.
And the job of an SEO is to help get a site ranked higher on Google. To do this you need to produce great quality content. Meaning ranked on the first page of Google and between the No.1 and No.3 spot would be ideal.
There’s a funny saying going around about SEO. If you want to hide a dead body, just put it on the second page of Google!!
That shows how important it is to get on the first page with the keyword you are trying to rank for.
Plus they look at all the aspects of the website they are trying to rank higher for and working on all components, bring more traffic, make more sales, meaning more revenue for their client. It’s a win win.
There are two parts to SEO. On page and Off page.
On-page SEO concerns all of Google’s ranking factors that are determined by directly looking at the page you try to optimize, such as headlines, content and page structure.
Off-page SEO refers to all variables Google takes a look at, which are not exclusively in your own hands, but depend on other websites, such as social networks, other blogs in your industry and the personal history of the searcher.
Plus there are two ‘’kinds’’ of SEO strategies.
White Hat and Black Hat. I strongly and only recommend White Hat strategies.
Google loves white hat SEO, plus it’s the honest way of doing your job.
Black hat is for the guys who want to cheat and earn a quick dollar. Yes you can do that but you will also get caught out very fast….and rightly so.
Some White Hat Strategies:
Relevant links and reverences
Relevant page titles
Some Black Hat Strategies:
Links from sites with non-relevant content
Legit form of business is always the way. It’s no different when applying SEO.
Here is a link explaining the two.
There are 3 categories in on page SEO.
They are 1) Content, 2) HTML, 3)Architecture
There are 4 areas of off page SEO.
They are 1)Trust, 2) Links, 3) Personal, 4)Social
There is a revised list of SEO tools that I came across recently. I think you will it. Check it out. www.backlinko.com
So to round it all off I recommend working on a skill like SEO. SEO is certainly not for everybody as it is very detailed orientated.
But if you do wish to go that route, certainly learn from the best. Neil Patel is one of the best guys in the industry. You can check out his page here.
